Pentecost 11 – August 5th – Transfiguration
We celebrate the feast of the Transfiguration, when Jesus goes up the Mount to pray and his appearance is dramatically changed in front of his disciples. It’s the spiritual experience par excellence and those disciples want to stay in it. But Jesus says, no, this is a little taste of the glory to come, and we must go to Jerusalem to first face suffering and death!
We want a place of sanctuary for the world, and St Mark’s offers it. And then, once filled we are called to serve a broken world and face the suffering that can bring. But we need sustenance to do this.
